A 45 year-old male presented to CFNC with chief complaints of dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, anxiety, and difficulty swallowing. Dizziness was rated as a 6/10, anxiety 7/10, and difficulty swallowing was a 7/10.
Examination
Upon examination, we found profoundly reduced balance scores, dysmetria with cerebellar tests, an accommodation spasm, and an irregular pupillary light reflex.
Treatment
The patient was seen twice per week for seven weeks. Treatment consisted of blood sugar regulation, neurosensorimotor integration, vestibular rehabilitation, balance exercises, cerebellar therapies, peripheral nerve stimulation, bemer therapy, and red and near infrared light therapy.
Results
At the re-examination, the patient reported that his dizziness was improved and felt “well controlled,”, his ability to swallow had improved, and he had decreased anxiety! Dizziness is now rated as a 1/10, difficulty swallowing is now a 2/10, and anxiety is now a 1-2/10.
